Performance
Programs: Calaveras Repertory
Theatre offers two performance assemblies: Page to Stage and
Shakespeare!. These highly active and humorous assemblies run 45
minutes and are performed by two professional actors. These tours,
which reach over 20,000 students a year, are designed to instill an
appreciation of good literature.
Page-to-Stage Page-to-Stage takes scenes from
classic children's stories such as Charlotte's Web, Where the Wild Things Are, Tom
Sawyer, The Twits and Just So Stories and brings them to life on stage with
a lot of humor and fun for the audience. Because this program was developed
using the state framework for language arts as a guide, the program fits in
well with elementary school language arts curriculum.
This year, Page-to-Stage features
scenes from "Good Night Moon," by Clement Hurd, "Miss Nelson is Back," by
James Marshall, "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs," by Jon Scieske,
"Ira Sleeps Over," by Judith Viorst, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,"
by C.S Lewis, and poems by Shel Silverstein and others, and brings them to
life on stage with a lot of humor and fun for the audience.
Page-to-Stage is appropriate for grades K-6 and is available for booking in
mid-October and November, 2002.
Shakespeare!
In Shakespeare!, the Bard's
theater comes alive in a series of scenes chosen for their action and
humor. Each scene teaches students about a different aspect of Shakespeare
plays. Its goal is to make Shakespeare accessible and fun for students of
all ages.
Shakespeare! is appropriate for
grades 2-12 and will be available for booking in March and April, 2003.
After School G.A.T.E.
Program:
Calaveras Rep also offers an after-school program, one day a week for 4 weeks. Each session is two hours long and is taught by theatre
professionals with specialties like Clowning, Improvisation, Stage Combat, Voice
and Movement. Piloted in the Berryessa School District, this is an
ideal enrichment program for G.A.T.E. students.

Pricing: Each of these programs (the after school
program, the Page-to-Stage assembly and the Shakespeare! assembly) costs
only $500 per program. If you want to combine any of the programs, you can
get a tour plus the after school program for $900, or you can get both tours
for $900, or you can get both tours and an after school program for $1300.
These programs were developed by knowledgeable educators who are committed
to instilling an appreciation of good literature in children of all ages.
We've had a great deal of success with these programs, which have been
embraced by schools in Pleasanton, Santa Clara, Berryessa and Albany, to
name a few. We would like to bring a little of our magic to you as well.
