Calaveras Repertory Theatre presents "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," based on Ken Kesey's wrenching novel about defiance and redemption.

The famous dark comedy is the story of McMurphy, who is sent to a mental institution, where he meets an array of colorful characters and battles the tyrannical Nurse Ratched.

Sentenced to jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, McMurphy convinces the authorities he's crazy enough to need psychiatric care and is sent to a hospital. He fits in surprisingly well, his point of view actually causing some of the patients to progress...until the tyrannical Nurse Ratched decides that things are moving just a little too progressively.

About the director

John Ribovich is a poet and playwright, drama instructor at Milpitas High School, and the founder of Calaveras Repertory Theatre. In 1992 he started the Shakespeare Mentor Tour and the Page-to-Stage educational tour. He has taught drama classes at ACT and the Berkeley Repertory and written many plays.
