Audition Information

Calaveras Rep produces two to three mainstage productions each season, as well as two touring productions.  All roles in mainstage shows are paid a small one-time stipend and we often use a BAPP agreement that allows us to work with union actors.  All rehearsals and performances for mainstage shows are held at our theatre in Milpitas.    Touring productions are paid a weekly salary for the two-week rehearsal period and a daily stipend for each performance day.

We usually hold one round of season general auditions in the spring, as well as additional auditions on a show-by-show basis. Keep your eye on Callboard, Theatre Bay Area online, and this webpage for audition announcements.  We also attend the TBA auditions each winter.

For an appointment and/or information, please call 408-586-8831.  Please leave your name (spelling your last name), your contact phone numbers, and your preferred audition times. If you have any conflicts on the day of the audition, please mention those as well. We’ll try to schedule you as close to your preferred time as possible.

We will give you a conformation call back as soon as possible.  Directions, audition sides and monologues will be on the Calaveras Rep website, unless otherwise noted.  If you don’t receive your confirmation by a week before the audition dates, please call back again and we’ll make sure you get the information in time.

If you haven’t auditioned for us in the last year at the theatre or at the TBA general auditions, please mail a photo (1 only please!) and resume to Casting, Calaveras Repertory Theatre/P.O. Box 360783/Milpitas, CA 95036-0783.  On the envelope, please list the project and role you’re interested in.  On your resume, note the director’s name for each show listed.  And please make sure your resume is stapled to your headshot!

For the audition:

Please come 15 minutes before your appointment time to check in and fill out an audition form.

Please bring one extra headshot/resume (attached), listing the names of the directors for the shows you’ve done.

For Shakespeare, please be prepared to do two short (1 to 2 minute) contrasting Shakespeare monologues, one of which should be in verse); remember, longer does not equal better!
