| The Actors
Katharine Dunlop – Nerissa
Katharine has performed with various Bay Area theatres
including Calaveras Rep, Shakespeare at Stinson, San Francisco Shakespeare
Festival, Transparent Theater, and Eastenders Repertory Company, of which
she is a company member. Katharine was last seen at Calaveras Rep as Helena
in last season's A Midsummer Night's Dream. She holds an MFA in
performance from UC Davis.
Jennifer Fagundes – Portia
Jennifer is happy to be back at Calaveras Rep, where she
last performed as Ariel in The Tempest. Most recently seen as Eugenie
in San Jose Rep’s A Flea In Her Ear, Jennifer has worked at various
Bay Area theatre companies, such as City Lights of San Jose, Marin
Shakespeare Company, Teatro Vision and The Western Stage. She will be
receiving a Dean Goodman award this month for her work in the Northern
California premier of Sirena, Queen of the Tango at Theatre
Rhinocerous.
Michael Keys Hall – Antonio
Michael has been an actor, director and teacher for over
25 years. Most recently he played Captain Anderson in Far East at
Theatreworks. He played Freddy in Picasso at the Lapin Agile at San
Jose Stage Co. and various roles in Stonewall Jackson's House at the
Eureka Theater and in Gross Indecency at Theater on the Square. He
has performed on Broadway in Children of a Lesser God and at the
Oregon Shakespearean Festival, The Alley Theater, A Noise Within, Pacific
Ensemble Theatre, the Hollywood Playhouse and many other theaters on both
coasts. Michael earned his M.F.A. in Acting from A.C.T. in San Francisco and
performed in over 20 productions as a member of the repertory company in the
1970's. This is his first appearance at Calaveras Rep.
Erik Holland – Solanio
Erik is pleased to be appearing for the first time at
Calaveras Rep. He studied theatre at San Jose State University. Erik has
been acting in the Bay Area for several years and has been seen as Adam in
Rough Crossing, Mike in Make & Believe, and Pippin in
Pippin.
Danielle Levin – Jessica
Danielle has appeared in many Bay Area productions over
the last two years. Recent roles include Viola in Twelfth Night and
Emily in Our Town at the Napa Valley Shakespeare Festival and Alice
in Closer at Actors' Theatre of Sonoma County. This spring she will
be playing Susan in Bus Barn Stage Company's production of The Heidi
Chronicles and Ophelia in Fortinbras at Actors' Theatre of Sonoma
County.
Tony Nam – Salerio
Tony has performed with Oakland Public Theatre,
TheatreWorks, Crowded Fire, Combined Art Form Entertainment, New
Conservatory Theatre Center, Santa Rosa Summer Repertory Theatre, and
Guerrilla Shakespeare. He has attended ACT’s Summer Training Congress and is
a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a BA in Dramatic Arts,
Political Science, and Economics. His most recent appearance was in
TheatreWorks production of Pacific Overtures.
Scott Nordquist – Lorenzo
Scott has worked for the California Shakespeare Festival,
Shakespeare at Stinson, New Conservatory Theatre, and Masquers Playhouse. He
is also featured in the independent feature film Coffee and Language. He was
last seen as Chris in Napa Valley College's production of All My Sons.
Bill Olson – Launcelot Gobbo
Bill has performed at City Lights Theatre Company, Bus
Barn Stage Company, Foothill College and TheatreWorks, but most recently
with the award winning puppetry company Lunatique Fantastique (Best of
Fringe, SF Fringe Festival 2000). He received a B.A. in English Literature
from Williams College, and is a graduate of the Center for the Alexander
Technique. This is Bill's first production with Calaveras Repertory Theatre.
Brian O'Sullivan.– Morocco, Arragon, Old Gobbo,
Tubal, Venice
After making his professional debut in the award winning
Neon Psalms with the Magic Theatre in 1985, Brian returns to the Bay
Area after a 16 year stint in New York. He has appeared Off-Broadway with La
Mama, Equity Library Theatre and The Intar, among others. For the last 5
seasons he has been a principal actor with the famed Gorilla Repertory
Theatre, most recently receiving rave reviews for his performance in
Cymbeline. He will return to New York and Gorilla Rep this summer to
play Falstaff in The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Steven Patterson – Shylock
Steven has appeared in the Bay Area with Calaveras Rep
(Prospero in The Tempest), American Musical Theatre of San Jose,
TheatreWorks, Women In Time, Signal Theatre Company, AmeRican CitiZen’s
TheatRE, Pacific Alliance Stage Company, Theatre Rhinoceros, Contemporary
Opera Marin, EXIT Theatre, and Kaliyuga Arts.
Jeremy Ridgeway – Balthasar, Stephano, Leonardo,
Messenger, Man, Jailer
Jeremy is excited to join the Merchant of Venice
cast. He hasn't been seen on stage since his high school musical production
of Peter Pan as a pirate. Jeremy spends many hours working with
computers but at least as many seeing the world.
Michael Shipley – Bassanio
Michael has performed with many regional theaters
including The Aurora Theatre Company, Sacramento Theatre Company, Missouri
Repertory Theatre, American Players Theatre, as well as the Utah, Idaho, and
San Francisco Shakespeare festivals. Favorite past productions include:
Gross Indecency, Henry in Damn Yankees, Demetrius in A
Midsummer Night’s
Dream, and Pip in Great
Expectations. Michael is a graduate of the M.F.A. program at the
American Conservatory Theater.
Neil Flint Worden – Gratiano
Neil has performed throughout the Bay Area and beyond in
such theatres as Seattle Repertory, Tacoma Actors Guild, The Magic, San Jose
Repertory, Playhouse West, FoolsFury, BRAVA, TheatreWorks, Shakespeare Santa
Cruz, Utah Shakespeare, Fairbanks Shakespeare, The Treehouse Theatre, Idaho
Repertory, Sierra Repertory, Chaucer and Co. and Berkeley Rep. Last year he
was seen as Louis XIV in Las Meninas, Fred Ott in Moving
Picture, George Orwell et al. in Apertura Modotti, and
Alcandre in The Illusion. He has an MFA from the University of
Washington, a lovely and talented wife named Margo, a brilliant prodigy
named Orlando for a son and absolutely no idea what role he will be playing
next except...father and husband, always.
The Artistic Staff
John Ribovich – Director and Artistic Director
John Ribovich is the Founding Director of Calaveras
Repertory Theatre. He has directed over 50 productions in the Bay Area,
including the Bay Area stage premiere of E/R (Emergency Room). He is a
playwright (his Christmas with the Brothers Grimm was staged for two
straight years at Calaveras Rep), poet (his work has appeared in dozens of
journals here and abroad) and journalist (recent articles have appeared in
American Bungalow and Style 1900). He has also taught Drama and English to
students of all ages for the last 20 years.
Caela Fujii – Stage Manager
This is Caela’s first production with Calaveras Rep. Most
recently, she stage managed The Miser at City Lights and
Communicating Doors with Bus Barn Stage Company. Prior to that, she
spent three years with California Theatre Center, working in many
capacities, including stage manager, teacher and performer. Caela graduated
from the University of Southern California with degrees in Theatre and
Cinema-Television.
Nam Nguyen – Lighting Designer
Nam studied theatrical design at Santa Clara University
and has created theatre/industrial lighting and set concepts in the Milpitas
community for the past eight years. Since 1996, Nam has been the resident
lighting designer for Calaveras Rep, where he recently designed the lights
for Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. He has also designed for the BusBarn
Theatre in Los Altos and served as the designer for the Milpitas Christmas
Tree Lighting Ceremony for the past two holiday seasons.
Trish Files – Costume Designer
Trish Files recently designed the costumes for Cat On
A Hot Tin Roof at Calaveras Rep. Her other costume design work has been
seen at Bus Barn Theatre, Los Altos Youth Theatre, and others.
Russ Milligan – Set Designer & Technical Director
Russ is a Resident Designer and Technical Director for
American Conservatory Theatre’s M.F.A. Program. He has been working in the
Bay Area for the past two years on such shows as The Search for Signs of
Intelligent Life in the Universe, Dirty Blonde, and Fully
Committed for Theatre on the Square, Summer of `42 at
TheatreWorks, and Peer Gynt for A.C.T. He has also worked for the
National Theatre in London on Time on Fire.
